Your Referral ID is how we identify you and is present at the end of all affiliate links eg: a_aid=YourAffiliateName (where YourAffiliateName add your chosen referral ID).
As an extra tracking method we have a Direct Link feature which will give your site a trusted status and all purchases that come from your website are automatically tracked in your affiliate account. The programme is powered by Post Affiliate Pro, the leading affiliate tracking software. Post Affiliate Pro uses a combination of cookies and IP address to track referrals for the best possible reliability. When a visitor follows your affiliate link to our site, our affiliate system registers this referral and places a cookie on his or her computer. When the visitor pays for the product the affiliate system checks for the stored cookie (if not found, it will check for IP address of referral) and credits your account with the commission.
This is an automatic process. All your referrals will be properly tracked.
We have a great range or banners and copy you can use on site and in seasonal promotions being carried out. If there is a particular banner size that we do not supply and you require please inform us and we will ask our design team. Please be aware that we have a small design team and any creative changes will be subject to time constraints.
All creative can be found on the promotions section of the affiliate panel under banners and links.
You can only use approved creative produced by The Book Depository (located in your affiliate panel under banners and links) which you will have access to once you have been approved onto the programme. You are not allowed to alter our logos or approved creative in any way. All creative will be updated regularly to reflect new promotions. If you have any certain requirements please get in touch with the affiliate team and we will do our best to help.

Direct link tracking allows you to link directly to The Book Depository without the need to add your Referral ID to the end of the URL. You can add your URLs to direct links function located in the affiliate panel under 'Promotion' then click DirectLink URLs.
In order for the Direct Link Function to work you don't need to enter each and every page of your website just the main site name, also please ensure you use star convention when submitting you Direct Link URLs.
So for example if you enter *yoursite.com* in the Directlinks function we will match and track sales for:

Yes, your affiliate panel has a variety of reports enabling you to track click-throughs and commissions. As soon as you login to your affiliate panel you will see your sales summary and other helpful statistics.
Ad Channel tracking
Channels allow you to track your promotions and see which ones are the most successful. To use it, simply create a new channel for every link/banner placement you want. For example, you can create a channel for your home page, for second page, for an AdWords advertisement.
The channels can be created in affiliate panel in Promotion -> Add channels.
Once you've created some channels, you can use them in your affiliate links. Add parameter
chan=CHANNEL_CODE to your link, for example:
In the Banners & Links screen you can also choose the Channel, and then all banner codes generated for every banner will already contain channel.
Now the channel will be saved for every click on this link, and the channel information will be transferred also to the referred commission, so you will know exactly what link from which channel led to the commission.
Examples of use:
There is a report about Channel Performance available at Reports -> Channel stats report.
It displays performance (impressions, clicks, sales) for every channel.
Custom reference tracking
Book Depository allows publishers to append up to two custom tracking references (data1 and data2) to your link. This gives publishers the ability to track the sale back to the exact link the visitor used allowing optimisation of which promotional methods work best to convert visitors into customers or in order to track the sale back to an individual. Any sales that occur through a link with these additional parameters will be displayed in the Commissions and Raw clicks reports in the Reports menu.
To implement a click ref, simply add &data1=YOURREF or &data2=YOURREF2 to your link (where YOURREF and YOURREF2 are replaced with your custom reference such as a Member ID), for example:
Affiliates are not permitted to carry out any PPC search activity.

What makes the Book Depository affiliate programme stand out from the rest is that even if you don't have a website you can still promote us to your friends, work colleagues and family and earn 5% commission. Other ideas of how you can use your affiliate link are: post your affiliate link on your Twitter account (Tracking works when using tools to shorten your Affiliate link to place on Twitter) , Facebook profile or any other social networking profile. As long as you use the correct affiliate links when promoting books we can track the sales you generate and award you with the commissions.
Simple. On registration choose the method you would like to receive payment; options for UK based affiliates are bank transfer or Paypal. For affiliates in other regions, payment can only be made via Paypal at present.
Don't forget to enter your account details; if you forget to do this on registration you can update your payment profile at a later date. This allows us to pay you for approved commissions each month providing you have reached the £25 threshold (If you do not hit £25 payment threshold the amount you have in approved commission will roll over until you do so).
We pay affiliates on the 15th of every month for previous months approved sales as long as the balance has reached the minimum threshold of £25. If your balance hasn't reached the £25 it will roll over to the following month till you do so.
There is no need to invoice us as once payment has been made via your nominated payment method you will receive a self-billing invoice. Payment should arrive in your account within 5 working days.
Affiliate payments will be made in GBP. If you select the PayPal payment option, PayPal will convert the commission from GBP to your chosen currency defined when setting up your PayPal account.
Ah. Down to the nitty gritty. Although you could refer us for pure love alone we are offering affiliates 5% commission for every sale referred to The Book Depository. This commission is calculated on the total order value of each transaction.
